CNL is developing and improving capabilities to address nuclear material measurement precision, field-deployable measurement technologies, and a deeper understanding of how material characteristics link to a process or location of origin. CNL participates in national and international forums focused on nuclear forensics issues, including leadership of nuclear forensics exercises, reference material development, and operational process development. CNL is also expanding technical capabilities in the morphological characterization of nuclear materials to deepen understanding of unique characteristics of nuclear material used in advanced fuels for small-and micro-modular reactors, and to further demonstrate CNL’s stature as a trusted and capable nuclear forensics partner to the Government of Canada and the international community.
