Strategic Delivery Partners

Strategic Delivery Partners

Canada’s national nuclear laboratories strengthens project delivery through new partnership agreements.

The strategic delivery partners are a select group of suppliers following competitive processes and strategic positioning with CNL to enable its mission towards achieving Vision 2030.

These agreements/ partnerships enable CNL to more confidently plan and deliver its program of work, but also achieve broader organizational objectives including company-wide sustainability targets, improved engagement with Indigenous Peoples, and economic development through the use of local resources in the delivery of the work, which includes the hiring of local vendors that live and work in the Ottawa Valley, and the use of Indigenous contractors. As part of its commitment to sustainable operations, CNL has also made it a requirement that environmental stewardship and sustainability are integrated into all areas of the work, including the use of environmentally-friendly materials, practices and organizations, in order to limit the impact of this work on future generations.

With a significant program of work on the horizon at the Chalk River Laboratories campus, it is critical that we have a reliable supply chain in place to safely deliver this work on time, on schedule, and according to the high expectations of CNL, AECL and the Government of Canada.

These partners are comprised of 3 main groups:

The Strategic Delivery Partnership Agreement (SDPA)

A Business to Business framework on collaboration enabling stakeholders to add value to each other, under a collaboration agreement, with predefined rules of engagement and expectations, referred to as “The Strategic Delivery Partnership Agreement” SDPA.  It consists of a circle of key strategic partners (11) representing many industries and segments that are crucial to CNL.

Construction Delivery Partnership (CDP)

A grouping of suppliers “Construction Delivery Partnership (CDP) “ following a complex procurement process leading to selecting 4 key partners to support CNL in delivering strategic Project for both conventional and nuclear related construction, based on prequalification in the Nuclear industry and capabilities to handle such requirements.

Minor Construction Partnership (MCP)

A grouping of suppliers “Minor Construction Partnership (MCP) “  following a complex procurement process leading to selecting 3 key partners to support CNL in delivering smaller construction and demolition work packages, based on prequalification in the Nuclear industry and capabilities to handle such requirements.
