CNL has adopted the Government of Canada’s Buy Canadian Policy, effective December 16, 2025, to strengthen Canadian supply chains and support domestic industry. By adopting this approach, CNL is aligning with national priorities to ensure that procurement investments deliver greater value to Canada while maintaining operational excellence.
Why This Change Matters
The Buy Canadian Policy is a federal initiative designed to:
- Strengthen Canadian supply chains
- Support economic resilience and growth
- Promote Canadian jobs, businesses, and communities
- Encourage participation from Canadian suppliers, including small and medium-sized businesses
What This Means for Suppliers
The Buy Canadian requirements will be applied throughout the entire procurement lifecycle, including:
- Procurement planning
- Sourcing and solicitation
- Proposal evaluation
- Contract execution
Suppliers can expect increased emphasis on:
- Canadian suppliers and partnerships
- Canadian-produced materials (focus on steel, aluminum, and wood products in applicable projects)
- Canadian content within goods and services
These measures will influence evaluation criteria, sourcing strategies, and contract requirements for applicable procurements.
CNL’s Commitment
- Full compliance with government policy requirements
- Clear governance and accountability
- Consistent and transparent procurement practices
- Maximizing Canadian participation where feasible
What We Ask of You;
We encourage all suppliers to:
- Carefully review the Buy Canadian requirements in any future RFx opportunities and ensure that you submit any required attestation forms with your response/proposal submission. If you don’t understand something, seek clarification.
- Consider supply chain opportunities that prioritize Canadian content.
- Prepare to support new requirements related to origin and content reporting, where applicable.
