The following information bulletin is in accordance with Canadian Nuclear Laboratories’ (CNL) ongoing commitment to public disclosure of events related to the Chalk River Laboratories (CRL).
On Sunday February 03, the Chalk River Laboratories site experienced an electrical power outage due to an equipment failure.
CNL provided initial notification of the outage to the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) as an item of regulatory interest on February 03.
Power was restored to most of the site as of 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening, and work continues to restore power to outstanding buildings.
The cause of the power outage is under investigation.
CNL confirms that there is no threat to workers, the public, the environment or nuclear safety related to this event.
