Chalk River Laboratories Vehicle Incident

The following information bulletin is in accordance with Canadian Nuclear Laboratories’ (CNL) ongoing commitment to voluntary public disclosure of events related to the Chalk River Laboratories (CRL).

Chalk River, ON – 2021 February 3 – On Tuesday, February 02, CNL Fire Services personnel responded to a vehicle incident on the Chalk River site premises.

While unloading clean soil, used for backfilling, a CNL owned and operated dump truck tipped on its side.  CNL Fire Services were contacted for assistance.  First responders confirmed that the vehicle operator was uninjured, and ensured the vehicle was in a safe state.

CNL reported the incident to the Deep River Police, who responded to the scene.  CNL also arranged for off-site tow services.

The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission was notified of this occurrence.

Related work activities have been suspended as the investigation continues.

CNL confirms that there are no injuries or threat to workers, the public, the environment or nuclear safety related to this occurrence.
