NAYGN Webinar on the NSDF

  • Time: 11:30 am - 12:30 pm

NAYGN is pleased to host a public webinar on the proposed Near Surface Disposal Facility (NSDF) where we will answer YOUR questions!

Thursday, March 24, 2022
11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. EST

After more than 5 years of technical planning, dedicated preparation and stakeholder consultation, CNL is now into the final stretch for the Near Surface Disposal Facility. The NSDF is a critical facility for the future of Canada’s nuclear industry, ensuring the continued clean-up and disposal of low-level waste, and enabling the revitalization of the CRL site. The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) will be evaluating the project in a two-part hearing this spring the Commission’s decision will determine whether this project will move forward as a long term solution for our low-level waste.

CNL’s Reisa San Pedro (Environmental Analyst), Michael Labriola, (Safety and Licensing Analyst) and Nicole LeBlanc (Senior Communications Officer) will be joining us to discuss the types of waste that will go into the NSDF, the basis of the environmental risk assessment, the design of the NSDF (e.g. liner system, water treatment) and how to become an intervener during the CNSC NSDF public hearing process! If you have any specific questions, feel free to send them ahead of time to [email protected].

Note: this event will be public so invite your family and friends!
