Donation by Nuclear Laboratory Partners of Canada (NLPC) demonstrates long-term commitment to strengthening healthcare and supporting the future of the community
Chalk River, ON – June 9, 2026 – Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL), Canada’s premier nuclear science and technology organization, together with its parent company, Nuclear Laboratory Partners of Canada (NLPC), is proud to announce a donation of $250,000 to the Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation’s Together We Care Campaign. The pledge, an annual $50,000 donation for the next five years, reinforces the company’s commitment to supporting local healthcare and investing in the future of the Ottawa Valley.
The contribution was announced as part of the Together We Care Campaign launch, a $10 million dollar fundraising initiative that will support the critical healthcare priorities at the Pembroke Regional Hospital (PRH). Serving a catchment area of over 100,000 people across Renfrew County and beyond, PRH provides essential regional healthcare services, including the Regional Stroke Centre, trauma care, and a nine bed ICU. Patients requiring more acute treatment are often transported, by air, when necessary, from communities across the county to PRH for specialized care. Delivering this specialized care depends on access to state-of-the-art medical technology, including a CT scanner that is vital for rapid emergency diagnosis.
Funds donated by NLPC will support the purchase of a new CT scanner for the Pembroke Regional Hospital. As one of the hospital’s most essential diagnostic tools, the CT scanner performs more than 15,000 scans each year and is one of only three CT scanners in all of Renfrew County. This investment will help ensure patients continue to have access to timely, high-quality diagnostic imaging close to home.
CNL President and CEO, Dennis Carr, joined community leaders and supporters at the campaign launch, sharing the importance of investing in strong community partnerships, now and into the future, to ensure exceptional healthcare remains available close to home.
“We hope our investment sends a clear message that CNL is committed to supporting our community, not only today, but well into the future,” added Carr. “As one of the area’s largest employers, CNL recognizes the importance of supporting the communities where our employees live and work. Supporting initiatives like enhanced healthcare helps build healthy, resilient communities that attract and retain the workforce needed for our region’s continued success.”
“Every investment made through this campaign is rooted in one goal — delivering the best possible care to our patients,” said Sabine Mersmann, President and CEO of Pembroke Regional Hospital. “With the support of our community, we can continue to evolve, innovate, and meet the growing needs of those we serve.”
CNL and NLPC are honoured to support this important campaign and to partner with the Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation in helping build a healthier future for the community it serves.
