Canadian Nuclear Laboratories hosts Industry Day

PEMBROKE, ON May 09, 2017 – Yesterday Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) hosted a highly successful Industry Day, meeting with potential contractors and companies in the construction, commissioning, trades, engineering or architecture fields. More than 150 individuals representing local, national and international companies interested in the work CNL has to offer were in attendance.

With a planned investment of more than $1.2 billion over ten years in the facilities and infrastructure of the Chalk River Laboratories, CNL is poised to initiate several capital projects. CNL’s Industry Day was the first opportunity for interested parties to hear firsthand about CNL’s plan and start to build their proposals.

“Significant change is occurring at CNL and this is just the beginning,” says Ted Preisig, Vice President of Capital Projects. “Today we present our ideas on how the Chalk River skyline will change with the renewal of the laboratories’ infrastructure and gain feedback on how others can help us make this vision a reality.”

CNL announced its long-term strategy and vision for the future of Canada’s premier nuclear laboratory last week. This strategy outlines a vision for CNL over the next ten years, which positions the organization as a global leader in nuclear science and technology; the vision places us as commercially successful, respected for our scientific capabilities, and home to one of a kind expertise based out of a modern, efficient and collaborative campus environment.

“It is an exciting time to gain insight into the revitalization process for the Chalk River site,” says Preisig. “We are starting discussions today that will shape the site for years to come.”

Further information on the proposed site revitalization is available in CNL’s Long Term Strategy:
