(2016 January 26) Electrical Business Magazine announced the winners of its inaugural Electrical Safety Champion Awards program—the first and only award program of its kind in Canada. Among a select group being recognized was CNL’s Kevin Holm, an experienced electrician who works in Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) and has been spearheading initiatives to support electrical safety at Chalk River Laboratories.
“Quite simply, creating and maintaining an electrically safe environment is not just good business, it’s a moral obligation,” noted Anthony Capkun, editor of Electrical Business Magazine in a news release. “Congratulations to these inaugural winners, as their good work—along with the other amazing submissions we received—serve as an example to us all.”
Although this award has Kevin’s name on it, he tells us the acknowledgement would not have been possible without the support of many different groups, especially his colleagues in OSH who he describes as a close-knit group. “It is an amazing experience to work with individuals that share the same passion for worker safety, and I should add that management at CNL has been very supportive in allowing me to network and make strong relationships.” Kevin currently sits on two CSA technical committees relating to electrical safety.
“I am particularly pleased to see one of our own win external recognition for his efforts in electrical safety at CNL,” says Kevin Daniels, CNL’s Vice-President of Health, Safety, Security, Environment & Quality (HSSE&Q).
