Reminders & Advice

We want you to have a great day at the Laboratories. Below are a few suggestions and reminders which will help!

Event Logistics:
  • The Open House will run "rain or shine." In the event of bad weather, we may need to change or curtail some aspects, but many of the planned activities are under tented spaces or on a bus.  Bring a raincoat or umbrella, and get out there!
  • For safety reasons, we strongly encourage closed-toe footwear. It protects your feet, you are less likely to trip, and provides better support while walking.
  • Help us keep the site safe and secure! Photography is allowed at the event, but photography and cell phones will not be allowed on the bus tours. If you’re not sure please ask a staff member.
  • The event opens at 11:00 a.m. and closes at 3:00 p.m.
  • The free BBQ will run from 11:30 until 1:00pm. We will have picnic tables and tented areas for seating.

Arrival & Registration

If coming from the West, turn onto Highway 211 (East) to Pinawa, cross the Winnipeg River Bridge, then take the first left to Whiteshell Laboratories (Ara Mooradian Way).  Continue North for ~3 km until you arrive at the parking lot where you will be met by a staff member.  For everyone’s safety, you will be asked to wind down the windows and open the trunk of your car.  Staff will then give you directions for parking.  Park your car and use the designated pathway to walk to the tented area for registration.

  • Adults (18 and over) must show a valid ID to register for the event, minors must be accompanied by an adult.  Once you register you will get food tickets for the BBQ and other fun event items.
  • Those who have pre-registered for the Bus Tours will be required to present valid ID to verify identity.  (Minors must be accompanied by an adult).
  • We prefer if no bags (purses, briefcase, backpacks, etc.) are brought on the bus tours, but if you must bring a bag, you will be required to submit it for a search prior to boarding the bus.  Leave them in your car if they are not needed!
  •  Firearms, recreational drugs and alcohol are not permitted on site.
